ActiveOfficial Missions of the Government of Venezuela to the United States
Summary
General License No. 53 authorizes transactions otherwise prohibited by the Venezuela Sanctions Regulations (31 CFR part 591) related to the provision of goods or services in the United States to official and permanent missions of the Government of Venezuela to international organizations in the United States. It also covers goods and services for personal use by mission employees and their co-dwelling family members or dependents. Additionally, U.S. financial institutions are authorized to operate accounts, extend credit, and process funds transfers on behalf of these missions and their employees.
Authorized activities
- Provision of goods or services in the United States to official missions of the Government of Venezuela
- Provision of goods or services to permanent missions of the Government of Venezuela to international organizations in the United States
- Provision of goods or services for personal use of mission employees in the United States
- Provision of goods or services for personal use of family members or dependents sharing a common dwelling with mission employees
- Payment for goods or services provided to the missions or their employees and dependents
- U.S. financial institutions operating accounts for the missions and their employees
- U.S. financial institutions extending credit to the missions and their employees
- U.S. financial institutions processing funds transfers on behalf of the missions and their employees
Conditions
Goods or services must be for official mission business or personal use only and not for resale. Transactions may not involve the purchase, sale, financing, or refinancing of real property. All transactions must not be otherwise prohibited by law. Financial institution activities are subject to the limitations set out in paragraphs (a) and (b) of the license.
